With all the temptations it can be hard to stick to a diet. These are some tips and tricks that will help beginners to succeed on the keto diet. Our goal with Our Paleo Life is to provide a second source of information to assist you with your overall health goals. Our outlook is frequently affected by research findings. Scientists learn daily new information about human bodies how nutrition, movement and light impact longevity.
Track your macronutrients
A keto macro calculator can help you determine how much fat, protein, or carbs you should eat each day. The calculator will calculate how many calories you need daily, based on your personal needs, and monitor your carbohydrate intake.
You don’t have to eat keto. You should eat keto-friendly food, but they often contain some carbs.
Only eat when you are hungry
Do you struggle to lose weight with the keto diet? You might need to examine the keto meals that you are currently making.
You may be feeling hungry or have cravings. This is likely because you aren’t spacing out your meals properly. You should only eat food when you feel hungry.
Your body needs water to stay hydrated. Water can be a natural appetite suppressant. It will give you a feeling of fullness, so you can get to the next meal.
Plan your meals
You should stick to a schedule and not snack all day without a plan. You may end up eating more high-carb food than you should.
You can save your favorite recipes to create custom meal plans free of charge. For a monthly fee, you can also get my weekly keto meal plans.
Planning your meals ahead of time is a great way to stay on track, and keep within your daily macros, especially if you are just starting out.
Take measurements of your food and ingredients
To ensure accuracy in measuring, I cook my own food as much as possible. A kitchen scale is the best way to measure food.
I like fast food, such as protein bars. I prefer to eat healthy keto foods, which help me with my hunger and my overall health.
Don’t limit fat. Instead, focus on whole foods. Healthy fats are essential. Coconut oil and avocados are two of the best fat sources.
Intermittent fasting is a good idea.
You can prolong the time between breakfast and dinner to help you stay in ketosis for longer. It is also important not to eat close to bedtime.
I prefer to stop eating after 6 p.m. and hold off until 10 a.m. for breakfast.
Fasting for 16 hours a day can help you lose weight, improve your energy, and increase your mental clarity.
Get moving!
You can lose weight simply by doing some exercise, but it is not possible to lose weight through dieting alone.
It is important to exercise but not push yourself too hard in the first few weeks on a ketogenic diet. Even though they are less caloric than cardio, strength exercises will help you stay lean and muscular.
Be prepared for some discomfort
You will feel a little grumpy no matter what diet you follow.
You may feel less energetic or moody the first few weeks of a keto diet. This is sometimes called the keto flu.
This is because your body is burning fatty acids as fuel. It will subside within a week or so and your body should be able to recover.
When dining out, plan ahead
Celebrations with friends and family often involve eating out or attending potlucks where the food is unknown. You don’t have to be a party-pooper by saying “no” and avoiding any chance of going out with friends.
If you are going to eat at a restaurant, one of the best tips for keto is to read the menu before ordering.
Keep it simple and eat whole foods
My last keto tip is to make sure that everyone on a keto diet knows how to avoid certain foods and when to eat them. This is particularly important if you are trying to lose weight.
Many companies are now marketing convenience foods as keto. Many of these convenience foods are not what you should eat on a low-carb lifestyle.
Always read labels!
You shouldn’t eat ingredients that you wouldn’t use in your own home kitchen.
Also, be wary of packaged foods labeled low in net carbs.
Enjoy a wide range of food
It can be one of your best decisions in life to choose to live a low-carb diet. A well-stocked pantry and a wide variety of keto-friendly food options are two ways to keep you on track with your health goals.
